We had an oppoturnity to sit down with Mona Seresht to find out a bit more about her journey to what got her here today.

Can you briefly share your journey and what led you to where you are today working in Dermatology?

During my undergraduate studies, I felt drawn towards healthcare, but no specific career resonated strongly enough with me. Once I learned about the PA profession, I was laser focused on getting accepted into a PA master’s program, which was notoriously competitive and difficult to get into. During my time in PA school, my love for dermatology grew. Having an eye for aesthetics, instilling confidence, empowering patients, and the combination of art and medicine ultimately inspired me to pursue a career in Cosmetic Dermatology

Can you share a defining moment in your journey that served as a turning point and inspired

you to continue on your path?

I had a difficult time during my post-bac where I had a packed schedule full of science courses to fulfil my prerequisite requirements, volunteer work at multiple organizations, all while working crazy hours in the emergency department, to make myself the most competitive applicant for PA school. During defeating and high stress moments, what helped was to envision my future life and being able to have the privilege to do what I love every day. I proudly look back no that time and am so grateful to my past self for putting in the work and following through with my goals.

What specific accomplishments or achievements do you believe had the greatest impact on

your career and the lives of others?

I genuinely love what I do and am excited to go to work every day. Mastering my craft, instilling confidence in my patients, and making them feel beautiful inside and out brings me so much joy. I take pride in creating a safe, welcoming, and fun space where patients can feel empowered to take charge of their skincare routine and aesthetics journey. I believe the work I do is confidence, empowerment, and self-care all intertwined. My favorite saying is, “When you look good and feel better, those thoughts and feelings spill over to other areas of your life. The possibilities are endless and you can move mountains.”

Can you tell us about a current project, initiative, or cause that you’re deeply passionate and

working on?

I love to share my love for skin health and natural injectables while showcasing a healthy work life balance on my social media account, @mona.the.pa. I also enjoy educating and connecting with a like-minded community of almost 70,000 people. I really enjoy this creative outlet, having the opportunity to work with incredible brands, connecting with others, and strive to continue to grow in the social space.

Can you share a piece of advice for women looking to pursue a path similar to yours?

Whatever it is, always go for it and shoot for the stars. Believing in yourself is one half of the puzzle and you would be surprised where an optimistic and hardworking attitude will get you. I attribute almost everything in my life to dreaming big, working hard, being persistent, and not having a plan B to fall back on.

What is a key innovation or emerging trend that you see in your field?

A common trend that I see among patients is that everyone is really striving for an ultra-natural look that is undetectable. I truly believe that the focus should be on skin health while using injectables to complement, and this is what I preach to my patients.
