Privacy + Sun Protection 👽 Just another benefit of Bluestone Sunshields.
The digital age has introduced both incredible innovation and unsettling advancements, especially when it comes to privacy. Smart glasses with automatic facial recognition are among the latest technologies to raise concerns, blending convenience with controversy. Two Harvard students recently demonstrated how Meta’s Ray-Ban smart glasses, combined with facial recognition tools like PimEyes, can quickly reveal personal details about anyone in real-time, highlighting how close we are to a future where privacy is an even greater challenge. With Bluestone Sunshields, we aim to offer a solution that provides style, comfort, and—most importantly—a layer of privacy protection.
How This Technology Works:
Livestreaming & Scanning: These smart glasses can livestream video directly to Instagram.
Facial Recognition: Advanced AI software scans faces in real-time and cross-references them with public databases.
Instant Personal Info: Within seconds, a connected phone app reveals personal information—from names and addresses to family connections.
While the students behind this project have no intention of releasing the code, their work is a vivid reminder of how easily today’s technology could be exploited for malicious purposes.
The Bluestone Solution
Bluestone Sunshields were originally designed to offer UV protection and a sense of stylish anonymity, and now, that layer of privacy is more relevant than ever. With the rise of smart tech that uses facial recognition, shielding yourself from unwanted surveillance has become another practical benefit of Bluestone Sunshields. By covering much of the face, our shields reduce the visibility of facial features that AI algorithms use for identification, giving you a sense of personal space and protection in a public environment.
