Help Medical Professionals Fighting COVID-19 Get Safety Glasses and Face Shields

As hospitals face critical shortages of personal protective equipment due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many of us are eager to support relief efforts.

RealSelf is partnering with Bluestone Sunshields to support efforts to manufacture and distribute safety glasses and full face shields, which are among the personal protective equipment (PPE) most needed by medical professionals at this time.

RealSelf has pledged $10,000 to support the production of 2,000 safety glasses and full face shields and is raising additional funds in order to donate a total of 6,000 pieces of critical protective equipment.

Donations can be made directly to Bluestone Sunshields now through May 1. Every $5 donation pays for one pair of glasses or one full face shield.

The first shipment of supplies will be distributed to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City, and UW Medicine hospitals in Seattle beginning in early April, and subsequent shipments will be sent throughout the month. RealSelf hopes to have all 6,000 pieces of safety gear delivered to hospitals by May 15.

“Medical professionals are on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic, and we’re grateful for the

opportunity to partner with Bluestone Sunshields to create and donate protective gear to the individuals who are risking their lives to keep us safe,” said Tom Seery, founder and CEO of RealSelf. “The RealSelf community is full of compassionate consumers and doctors who, even as they face their own hardships during this period of uncertainty, are eager to support relief efforts.”
